In May we held our last work party of the season, we had a great turn out to this seeing around 15 people attending.
We got a lot of work done including opening up bits of the lake that have been unseen for many years, strimming and blowing all the pathways, we also managed to have a good burn up clearing all the brush from previous works, a large area was cleared in order to get some storage down the lake
The boat went out onto the lake and cleared from snags from the water.
All in all we are very happy with everything we got done and thank everyone for their time and effort.
Keep an eye on here for upcoming dates.
River keeper and Committee member Kevin has once again stocked the River Whitewater with some fantastic Trout.
We look forward to hearing from some of the fly fishing members with catch reports.
Kevin has also been busy with arranging some work parties and strimming along the bank
If you missed out on the work parties keep an eye on here and the Facebook page for upcoming dates.
Februarys work party went very well with a great turnout of people, we managed to get a lot done on this day.
Tress that were causing some concern were removed along with clearing the islands on the small lake.
Five bin bags full of litter was collected on the day, obviously this is very disappointing to see and bailiffs are keeping a close eye on members going forward.
A big thank you to all that helped on this day!
Early January saw some major rainfall leading to some flooding at Shawfields.
The lakes took a lot of water from the River Blackwater, Joining the two lakes!
The lake was un fishable for around three days as the water was past waist height in many places.
The bailiffs had a good tidy up around both lakes, they also burnt all the piles of brush that had been cut down at a recent work party.
We would like to take this opportunity and remind members that fires are not allowed on the lakes unless at a arranged work party.
Thank you to all the bailiffs that showed up and helped!
In October Farnborough And District stocked the small lake at Shawfields with some carp from VS Fisheries.
the stocking consisted of 7 C4s and 25 C2s we look forward to seeing these fish mature.
If you do catch a fish you feel is a stocked fish please do take a picture and send them in as we would love to see how they are getting on!
In the hot August sun we had a good turn out for the work party.
We many focused our energy on the clearance of the main island on the small lake as we are keen to increase wind flow, we made a massive dent in clearing the island with only a small amount left for the next work party.
Others not on the island managed to get some trees trimmed, hedges cut and pathways strimmed.
A big thank you to everyone involved.
June saw some very challenging weather a lot of lakes in the local area were experiencing issues with their oxygen readings, ours was unfortunately one of them.
As a club we are very fortunate to own multiple generators and aerators and also a oxygen reader so we are able to set these up when required.
We did see some fish sadly die this year majority of them being very small silvers and bream with a couple of tench and pike too, however not a single carp was lost.
The lake was closed for around a week to settle and recover.
We would like to thank everyone that helped during this time.
